Supervisors have placed a moratorium on locating firearms retailers near places of worship and child-serving facilities after a gun shop opened immediately adjacent to a Goleta early childcare center and playground.
On Tuesday last week, the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors adopted a 45-day interim urgency ordinance that temporarily pauses new authorizations, relocation, expansion or intensification of retail firearms businesses while the county develops permanent regulations that differentiate firearms businesses from general retail.
