Rob Fredericks, the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara’s executive director and CEO, sometimes dons a black T-shirt that says in blocky white text, “Everyone Deserves a Home.” It’s a mantra Fredericks has championed during his past decade leading the organization. But after 10 years at the helm and another 21 working for the city’s Housing Authority, Fredericks has announced he plans to retire at the end of 2027. That gives Fredericks and the Housing Authority plenty of time to find a new CEO. It’s no small task for an organization working to build and preserve affordable units in one of the country’s most expensive housing markets.
