Light rain, gusty winds to hit areas of Southern California through end of week, forecasters predict

The National Weather Service’s latest update indicates a mix of weather conditions for the Central Coast in the coming days. While some areas may experience light rain, a more significant warming trend is anticipated, accompanied by occasional breezy offshore winds.

As of Tuesday evening, parts of San Luis Obispo (SLO) and Santa Barbara (SBA) Counties are witnessing the expansion of stratocumulus clouds. Meanwhile, other areas are experiencing mostly clear skies. The cloud cover is expected to increase overnight, primarily in northern regions. Additionally, stratocumulus clouds are likely to spread into southern Los Angeles (L.A.) County from the Orange County coast as an eddy develops.

Earlier in the evening, there were gusty northwest to north winds in higher mountainous regions and foothill areas of Ventura (VTU) and L.A. Counties, extending into the Santa Monica Mountains. While some gusts reached 40 to 50 mph, they are gradually diminishing through the night.

Looking ahead, a weak weather system is approaching the west coast but is expected to lose momentum as it encounters a weak ridge across the western U.S.
