The Cabrillo-Los Patos Roundabout Project is set to start in late February 2024. This is the first phase of a larger project on East Cabrillo Boulevard. The project will build a single-lane roundabout at the intersection of East Cabrillo Boulevard and Los Patos Way. This area is busy with cars, bikes, and pedestrians. The roundabout is expected to improve safety.
The project will also add updated crosswalks with traffic islands and a landscaped center island. A pedestrian and bicycle lane will be installed on northbound Channel Drive. A new left turn lane will be added from southbound Cabrillo Boulevard to Channel Drive.
The first phase will involve moving utilities across Cabrillo Boulevard from Los Patos Way to Channel Drive. This phase should take two to three months. Construction will happen between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, with some night work.
Traffic delays and minor detours are expected during construction. The project should be finished by Spring 2025. Public meetings were held in November 2023 to discuss the project.
