Rain showers linger into Thursday

This storm system has a lot of instability, meaning there is a concern of hail, periods of a heavy downpour or rain, and strong winds. The good news is the system seems to be moving very quickly. A Special Weather Statement has been issued for Goleta, Isla Vista, and Solvang because the strongest part of the storm has made its way farther South. It will be in effect until 6pm Wednesday. Additionally, a Flood Advisory will be in effect until 10pm Wednesday evening for Santa Barbara County and until 11pm Wednesday for Ventura County.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be in effect until 6:45pm for Santa Barbara and Goleta. Winds will be up to 60 mph and hail will fall at this time. A brief Tornado Warning was issued for Morro Bay and Los Osos by the National Weather Service that expired within 15 minutes Wednesday afternoon.

There are lingering showers across the Central Coast as we transition between storm systems. This last storm brought over 50 inches of snow into the mountain areas in the last week. Temperatures are to remain cool for the next few days.
