SANTA BARBARA, Calif.-The Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s Outstanding Directors award honored Martin Scorsese and Justine Triet this year.

Both are up for Oscars.

The “Anatomy of a Fall” director shared her thoughts on the red carpet.

“I’m super happy to be here with people who love, so much, cinema. It is an honor for me, of course, and of course to meet Martin Scorsese tonight, it is, I’m a little stressed, I think,” said Triet.

Scorsese didn’t walk the red carpet or sign autographs for fans lining State Street, but his latest film “Killers Of The Flower Moon” launched Virtuosos Award recipient Lily Gladstone into the Oscar contender category. Gladstone’s nomination as a Native American woman is historic.

Scorsese said the real story behind the film intrigued him from the start.

“There was something so compelling about this story it is more than one story,” said Scorsese,” I could not pull myself away form it.”
