Fire knocked down at Ojai Valley Starbucks

A refrigerator caught fire inside a Starbucks along Highway 33 in the Mira Monte area Friday afternoon, bringing Ventura County Fire Department personnel.

Crews arrived within minutes after the fire was reported around 3:45 p.m. at 11534 N. Ventura Ave., said Andrew Dowd, an engineer-paramedic with the department. The highway is also called North Ventura Avenue along the stretch.

The blaze activated the sprinkler system, which helped keep the fire in check, Dowd said.

Everyone inside the shop got out before firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported.

The fire was contained to the refrigerator unit. Crews remained on scene as of 5 p.m. to make sure there was no extension, Dowd said.

The cause remained under investigation.
