Finding a ‘Majestic’ sight as bald eagle spreads wings at Lake Casitas near Ojai

The early bird finds the eagle.

A male bald eagle, nicknamed Mr. Majestic, was first spotted at the Lake Casitas Recreation Area outside of Ojai some 14 years ago. His mate, nicknamed Hannah, sometimes leaves the area during summer and then returns in the fall.

Mr. Majestic stays. Early on Saturday morning, he was perched high near the massive eucalyptus tree that contains his nest. Two days later, Hannah was spotted at the lake.

The two eagles are believed to be one of the only nesting pairs of bald eagles on Ventura County’s mainland, perhaps the sole one.
