Firefighters extinguished a house fire in the hills of Ventura Thursday night, authorities said.
Crews with the Ventura Fire Department responded to a call of a house on fire in the 1100 block of Horizon Drive just before 6:30 p.m., according to an agency news release. The neighborhood is off Foothill Road near Kimball Road.
The occupants of the house had safely evacuated prior to arrival of firefighters and there were no reported injuries either to residents or fire personnel, the release said.
The blaze was reportedly under control within about 30 minutes after the initial report, but crews remained for an additional two hours to completely extinguish the fire, the release said.
In all, around 27 fire personnel were present, including from the Oxnard Fire Department, officials said.
The Ventura Fire Department could not confirm whether any residents were displaced or comment on the condition of the structure as of noon Friday.
The Red Cross had not been requested to provide assistance, said Taylor Poisall, a spokesperson for the organization.
