The California Coastal Commission has given the green light to the UC Santa Barbara (UCSB) for its new student housing project, anticipated to significantly boost its on-campus housing capacity by 2027.
The San Benito housing development aims to construct apartment-style units providing 2,224 beds specifically designed for undergraduate students in its initial phase.
The approval occurred during Thursday’s commission meeting where amendments were made to UCSB’s 2010 Long Range Development Plan, adapting the maximum building height from 65 feet to 81 feet.
