Los Angeles, California – A rare spring snowstorm is set to create hazardous travel conditions across the mountains of Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties on Saturday, threatening up to 7 inches of snow and gusty winds along key mountain passes and corridors.
According to the National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard, a Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday for the Santa Barbara County Interior Mountains, Northern and Southern Ventura County Mountains, and from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. for the Interstate 5 Corridor and San Gabriel Mountains. Snow is expected above 5,000 feet, with the heaviest accumulations along the I-5 corridor, Highway 14, and Angeles Crest Highway. Wind gusts could reach 35 mph in exposed areas.
Drivers should expect slippery roads and possible closures on Tejon Pass, Pyramid Lake, and Mount Baldy, as well as challenging conditions through Gorman, Wrightwood, and Rose Valley.
