A group of 17 dancers from the CSD School of Performing Arts traveled down to Los Angeles over the weekend for the Heat Dance Convention and Competition, where the Carpinteria dancers competed in 14 events and came back with multiple awards, accolades and scholarships.
For the past three years, CSD Director Nicole Powell has been working with the team of dancers in a mixture of styles such as ballet, modern, contemporary and jazz. Some dancers have been training for years, committing up to 12 hours a week to working on their skills, learning from professional faculty and renowned guest choreographers who visit the Carpinteria studio.
The company dancers competed in 14 dances over the weekend, with the team receiving two special judges choice awards, three of the top eight places overall, and recognition at the Platinum, Rose Gold and Gold levels…
