Nearly four months after 18-year-old UC Santa Barbara freshman Liz Hamel died in an apparent fall from a third floor breezeway at a campus dorm, her family is pleading for answers as UC police remain silent about the case.
Hamel’s family “is appealing to the public again for help understanding what happened to their only daughter who died mysteriously in February on the UCSB campus,” the family’s lawyer, Tyrone Maho, said in a statement sent to SFGATE on Tuesday.
Of specific interest are the actions of the last person seen with Hamel at an Isla Vista noodle bar during a Valentine’s Day night out. Twenty-one minutes after leaving the restaurant with a mystery man, Hamel was found lying on a sidewalk, unconscious and with severe injuries, under a third floor walkway at a campus dorm.
