SpaceX rocket carrying Starlink satellites lights up Southern California sky

A mere 30 minutes after the sun set on Monday, the sky was again greeted by a streak of light when SpaceX launched its Falcon 9 rocket across the Southern California coast.

With a liftoff time of 8:36 p.m., SpaceX launched its Starlink mission carrying 24 satellites to low-Earth orbit from the Vandenberg Space Force Base.

“There is the possibility that residents of Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties may hear one or more sonic booms during the launch, but what residents experience will depend on weather and other conditions,” SpaceX said on its website…
