Celebrate Independence Day Without Illegal Fireworks

July 4th is almost here, and we want to encourage you to celebrate safely this Independence Day without illegal fireworks. As a great alternative, join us for the City’s first Drone Light Show event from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Dos Pueblos High School. Details are available at www.CityofGoleta.org/DroneShow.

As a reminder, setting off fireworks is illegal in the City of Goleta. Not only can they cause injuries, they also can lead to fires which put us all at risk especially during our current high fire season. Goleta Police will be patrolling neighborhoods and enforcing illegal fireworks laws. Offenders are subject to hefty fines. You can also be legally and financially liable for injuries or for starting a fire. To report illegal fireworks call the non-emergency dispatch line at 805-683-2724.

Fireworks can also cause a great deal of stress for people who are noise sensitive and can be terrifying for pets. Santa Barbara County Animal Services (SBCAS) is offering free microchips in June for all pets and free crate loans through July 7th during regular business hours, Tuesday through Sunday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at all three shelter locations, the closest being the Santa Barbara Animal Shelter (5473 Overpass Road).
