California weather: Red flag warning issued as ‘strong and damaging’ wind batters state

A red flag warning has been issued for swaths of California with residents told to brace for ‘strong and locally damaging winds.’

As damaging as the winds will be, it’s the fire risk that is the real concern. Combined with a lowering in humidity, the wind could fan any developing embers into a wildfire inferno.

This comes as coastal regions around San Francisco face a risk of coastal flooding, with flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.
