Thousand Oaks woman pleads guilty in rental case

A Thousand Oaks woman pleaded guilty July 29 to two felony counts of grand theft in connection with deposits she took for the rental of a Simi Valley home that the prosecution said she did not own and was not authorized to lease.

Defendant Jenifer Singh collected $2,500 from one family in January 2024 and around three months later another $3,000 from a second family seeking to rent the same house, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office. She also accepted another $1,000 from the second family for a medical procedure she said she needed, the prosecution said.
