One of the fears, and there are many when getting older, is the possibility of being placed in a home. Some of us may have already done so for one or both of our parents. It’s a tough call. We all want to maintain some semblance of our normal life as we age, and our home is the place for that. Our comfort zone.

I remember when my wife and I could no longer care for her father. We moved him into an advanced caregiving facility. His mind was already cloudy but knew enough he didn’t want to be there. He pleaded to stay with us, and we languished in guilt.
