In The Marigold Cottages Murder Collective, Jo Nichols transports readers to a beachside California community whose inhabitants have little in common—until a body is found in their bushes and one of their own is accused of the crime.
The Marigold Cottages, a cluster of bungalows minutes away from the Santa Barbara shore, are owned by the eccentric older landlady Mrs. B. She only rents to tenants she connects with and wants to help. There’s Ocean, an artist raising two kids; Sophie, an aspiring playwright; Hamilton, a tech-savvy agoraphobe; Lily-Ann, a perfectionist proposal writer; Nicholas, a secretive city employee; and Anthony, a formerly incarcerated man and the most recent addition to the cottages.
Shortly after Anthony moves in, a body is discovered in the neighborhood. Police are quick to suspect Anthony, but Mrs. B is convinced he’s innocent. The tenants band together to solve the crime, learning more about one another in the process.
