A Newbury Park man has been arrested following a child exploitation investigation that has left the community shaken. Ventura County District Attorney’s Office reports that on August 27, 2025, a coordinated effort led to the arrest of Kevin John Reynolds after a search warrant was carried out at his residence. The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation Unit, with assistance from the FBI and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, identified Reynolds in an undercover operation focused on individuals involved in the downloading and distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
At the site of his Newbury Park home, agents seized multiple computers and external hard drives that are presumed to be linked to the case. Reynolds, who was born on September 27, 1984, was arrested for possession and distribution of CSAM and subsequently booked into the Ventura County Main Jail. “The sexual exploitation of our children is one of the most disturbing crimes our investigators confront,” Ventura County Chief Investigator Scott Whitney stated, expressing the grave nature of such offenses against minors.
Details emerged that Reynolds is a chemistry teacher at Fillmore High School, information that has undoubtedly caused alarm within the school community. The school district and local police were immediately brought into the loop as the investigation continues.
