Downtown Santa Ynez came alive with vibrant displays of song, dance and drumming as the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians hosted its annual Intertribal Powwow, celebrating six decades of cultural tradition.
The event, which marked 60 years since the tribe’s first powow, according to Tribal Chairman Kenneth Kahn, drew hundreds of participants representing tribal nations from across the U.S. and Canada.
