Student’s opinions on VHS teachers

Students at VHS have established their new favorite teachers within the first two months of school and opinions definitely vary. “My favorite teacher is Ms. Wallace. She’s very calm and understanding and she explains things very clearly,” said Aubrey Lopez ‘28. This student expressed her care for not only kindness in a teacher but her skills in educating as well. VHS has a wide selection of teachers and staff that many students have gotten the opportunity to work with, learn from, and build connections with. VHS’s staff includes 170 members who have all made an impact.

VHS offers math classes, science classes, language classes, history classes, electives and more. There are teachers who specialize in a specific subject and there are teachers who have had the opportunity to teach multiple. Having a good teacher that a student likes can make such a huge difference in the student’s interest toward the subject. Lopez said, “A lot of the teachers are great but there’s definitely strict ones.” Strict teachers are often still very successful and can still be favored by students across VHS for their care for their students’ education.

“I’ll be struggling on a problem and all I have to say is ‘Hey Mr. Lewis’ and he’ll walk me through it and put it on the board and he’ll draw all the molecules and stuff so I get to learn. He’s the bestest teacher. Mr. Lewis is lowkey the chillest teacher ever”, said Landon Donnelly ‘29. Teachers can find balance between “chill” and educational, helping students learn while keeping the stress for students at a minimum.

Same students seemed to not have a very strong opinion on this topic. Grayce Walsh ‘29 said, “I don’t really know. I guess Mr. Donnelly would be my favorite teacher. I really like his shirts.”…
