Santa Barbara High School Marks 150 Years with All Dons Reunion Celebration

The Santa Barbara Unified School District and the entire Santa Barbara community are celebrating a historic milestone: the 150th anniversary of Santa Barbara High School. At the September 23rd Board Meeting, the Trustees honored the school’s enduring legacy of academic excellence, athletic achievement, and innovative leadership.

The celebration highlighted Santa Barbara High School’s deep roots in the city, where the slogan, “Once a Don, Always a Don,” is more than a phrase—it’s a way of life. The school has consistently produced accomplished leaders across all fields, including renowned artists, scientists, politicians, and world-class athletes, from All-Americans and Olympians to NBA champions.

Superintendent Hilda Maldonado reflected on the school’s impact. “For 150 years, Santa Barbara High School has been a cornerstone of our community. This anniversary is a testament to the thousands of educators and students who have built a tradition of excellence. The school’s forward-thinking approach, seen in groundbreaking programs like our Interpretation/Translation Pathway—the first of its kind in California—ensures it will continue to shape leaders for centuries to come.”…
