Driver Airlifted to Hospital Following Crash Near Jalama Road

A motorist sustained major injuries following a vehicle collision near Jalama Road on Saturday, October 11.

At 1:41 p.m., Santa Barbara County Firefighters, California Highway Patrol, and Lompoc Firefighters responded to Highway 1, approximately 1/2 mile south of Jalama Road in the Lompoc area.

Crews discovered a single vehicle collision with one occupant inside the vehicle. The vehicle was located approximately 40 feet up a steep embankment off the side of Highway 1.

The location of the vehicle required firefighters to stabilize it before extracting the driver using the Jaws-of-Life. The driver, an adult male, sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Marian Regional Medical Hospital by a CalStar helicopter. Their condition is currently unknown…
