US town to end parking free-for-all with $300k program as drivers could see strict punishments for breaking rules

AFTER decades of little to no enforcement, an American town is set to invest over half-a-million into updating its parking compliance program.

Once enforcement starts on the new parking laws, drivers could be harshly punished for breaking road rules which previously weren’t part of local law enforcement’s concerns.

To help the California town overhaul its parking procedure, the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors is loaning the Isla Vista Community Services District $300,000 to get the new program off the ground.

The IVCSD is matching this contribution from its own financial reserves, giving the program a total of $600,000 to start with…
