Man convicted of killing 2 dogs, injuring driver in Ventura hit-and-run crash

A man was convicted of a hit-and-run crash that killed two dogs and injured another driver in Ventura.

Leonardo Palafox, 37, of Ventura, was found guilty by a jury of the crimes on Dec. 15, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.

On Feb. 6, Palafox was driving a blue truck when he ran a red light at the intersection of Thompson Boulevard and McMillan Avenue in Ventura. The truck narrowly missed a pedestrian in the crosswalk, but struck and killed the pedestrian’s two dogs…
