A relentless, record-breaking storm slammed Southern California this Christmas.

An atmospheric river dumped heavy rain across the state this week, prompting evacuations ahead of Christmas in counties like Ventura and Santa Barbara. The excess rainfall is a particular risk across scar burns, areas that experienced recent wildfires and are more prone to flooding and landslides. Fortunately, the weather is expected to subside this weekend.
