Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue responded to an activated Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) signal at about 3:40 p.m. on Friday, December 26, at Santa Barbara Airport.
Using direction-finding equipment, teams triangulated the beacon to the vicinity of an aviation school on the airfield, Search and Rescue stated.
Once on the tarmac, rescuers located a safely parked, unoccupied aircraft emitting the signal. The ELT was determined to have been inadvertently activated and was subsequently switched off…
