ICE arrests 118 individuals in California surge operation targeting criminal offenders

ICE arrested 118 individuals who were in the country illegally during a recent six-day operation in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties, California. The arrests took place between December 26 and December 31, 2025. According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), those taken into custody include people convicted of offenses such as sexual crimes against children, burglary, battery, domestic abuse, and multiple incidents of driving under the influence.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated: “ICE ended 2025 with a surge operation in California targeting the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens. 118 illegal aliens were arrested including pedophiles, registered sex offenders, burglars, domestic abusers, and serial drunk drivers. Criminal illegal aliens flock to California because they know Governor Newsom and his fellow sanctuary politicians will allow them to terrorize innocent American families. In 2026, our law enforcement will continue to do what Gavin Newsom refused to do: make California safe again.”

Among those arrested were Juan Perez Tello and Rogelio Sanchez Hidalgo—both convicted of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14—as well as others with convictions for battery, assault with a deadly weapon, DUI causing bodily injury, second-degree burglary, alien smuggling, and additional charges related to domestic violence and probation violations…
