Ventura council approves $170.1M for wastewater treatment project

The Ventura City Council on Jan. 27 approved tens of millions worth of new spending for a wastewater treatment project being built in conjunction with the city’s planned water recycling project known as VenturaWaterPure.

The total project cost for the membrane bioreactor project was estimated at $197 million based on a 2023 design report and increased to $302 million, said Gina Dorrington, general manager of Ventura Water, at the meeting.
