Residents of a Ventura apartment complex are raising alarm over some garages being converted into accessory dwelling units, or ADUs.
John Dotsy, 55, who has lived at Tradewinds Apartments on Preble Avenue near the 101 Freeway and the Pacific View Mall for nearly a decade, said he has been getting nonstop notifications from the owners since last year to give up his garage for the ADU conversion.
ADUs located within a half-mile walking distance of public transit are exempt from parking requirements, according to the state’s ADU laws. Dotsy says those laws have made it next to impossible to stop the change…
