Somebody to Love: A New Musical will make its world premiere on the West Coast this spring. The ’70s rock jukebox musical will play the Karyn Jackson Theater in Ventura, California March 25-April 12. Sean Daniels (The White Chip) is directing.
Written by Robert Sternin and Prudence Frase, (The Nanny), Somebody to Love follows four friends who meet freshman year of college and vow to change the world, and to always be there for each other. The musical will feature hits from artists like Sly and the Family Stone, America, Billy Joel, Bad Company, Roberta Flack,Kiss, Blondie, Grand Funk, Jefferson Airplane, Jethro Tull, Little River Band, Chicago, Earth, Wind and Fire, The Doobie Brothers, and Orleans.
Slated to star are Sophie Alawi (We Live in Cairo), Will Blum (Beetlejuice), Gizel Jimenez (Wicked), Donovan Mendelovitz, F. Michael Haynie (The Heart of Rock and Roll), Alexis Semevolos-Velazquez (The Golden Bride), and Desmond Newson (Motown The Musical).
