Community Members Clash with ICE Agents in Downtown Santa Barbara

Community members clashed with federal U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in downtown Santa Barbara on Friday, February 20, resulting in the arrest of one man and another man getting pepper sprayed.

The Santa Barbara Police Department (SBPD) stated at approximately 10:52 a.m., SBPD was informed there were ICE agents in the 100 block of E. Carrillo Street, at the Santa Barbara County Probation building, and local community members were filming their activities.

“Santa Barbara Police did not respond to this location and were not notified that ICE agents were going to be conducting operations in the city of Santa Barbara prior to this notification,” the SBPD statement read…
