Roadside and sidewalk food vendors operating without proper permits and licenses take heed: Santa Barbara County has moved toward joining cities countywide in the battle to support local, law-abiding businesses and protect public safety.
On Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors unanimously voiced support for the first reading of an ordinance updating the county’s sidewalk vending regulations, a program to educate the public and vendors about the ordinance and related food safety issues, and funding to enhance enforcement effort on weekends and outside regular government office hours.
