Resident injured as fire destroys Sandpiper Mobile Home Park residence

A structure fire broke out at the Sandpiper Mobile Home Park early Saturday morning, March 14, destroying a home and leaving its occupant with moderate to severe burns.

Local agencies — including the Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office and American Medical Response — received a call about the fire around 6 a.m., according to CSFPD Fire Marshal Mike LoMonaco.

The home’s sole occupant was transported to a local hospital by AMR, LoMonaco said. By the time firefighters arrived, the home was “fully engulfed,” he said…
