Beat the Heat: Public Air Conditioned Locations on Santa Barbara’s South Coast

We’re in the middle of a winter heatwave scrambling to figure out the best ways to stay cool. The National Weather Service reports temperatures are expected to run 20 to 35 degrees above normal throughout Southern California, with several March records at risk.

Many of us living on Santa Barbara’s South Coast are without air conditioning. When the heat peaks during mid-day, who wants to be stuck inside a hot house?

While the Goleta Valley Library is closed for renovations, the Santa Barbara Public Library is open and offering a cool temperature with a plethora of reading options.

Located at 40 E Anapamu Street in downtown Santa Barbara, it’s generally open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Sure, you’ll have to pay for a ticket, but a few hours of air conditioning and entertainment is surely worth it…
