Ventura sets deadlines to replace Main Street sidewalk extensions

Sidewalk extensions that multiplied during the pandemic, or so-called parklets, on downtown Main Street in Ventura are set to be removed in late July or early October, depending on applications being submitted for new city-approved ones.

The Ventura City Council voted 6-0 on March 24 to approve a parklet replacement schedule in the Main Street Moves area as part of a larger update for the area. Mayor Jeannette Sanchez-Palacios was absent.

Main Street Moves is the five-block area of Main Street and one block of California Street that have been closed to cars since 2020, and the City Council voted to make the closure permanent last year…
