Helicopter Hoists Injured Hiker from Tangerine Falls, Patient Flown to Hospital

Multiple agencies rescued an injured hiker Friday afternoon at Tangerine Falls on the Cold Spring Trail, airlifting the patient to a hospital after a coordinated response.

The call came in at 2:40 p.m. on April 3. Montecito Fire said Squad 91 and Santa Barbara City Fire Engine 77 hiked to the scene and provided initial medical care. Copter 9 responded and hoisted the patient from the base of the falls for transport to the hospital.

Agencies offered differing details about the patient’s identity and injuries. Montecito Fire reported treating a female hiker with a broken ankle, while Santa Barbara County Search & Rescue (SBCSAR) said the patient was a 24-year-old male with a lower-leg injury.
