Minotaur IV Launch from Vandenberg Set for Tuesday; Central Coast May Hear Sonic Booms

The U.S. Space Force has approved the launch of a Minotaur IV rocket carrying the Space Test Program (STP)-S29A mission for Tuesday, April 7, 2026, with a window from 4:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. PT from Space Launch Complex 8.

The STP-S29A mission will deliver a mix of Department of Defense, U.S. Space Force, and academic payloads to orbit, including STPSat-7, Auburn University’s ASTRA-HyRAX, and Texas A&M University’s AggieSat6, along with additional payloads.

Residents in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties may hear one or more sonic booms during the launch, depending on weather and other conditions, officials said…
