Floorboards will be pounding this month, with several local dance companies bringing dazzling performances to the stage. From classical ballet to captivating contemporary art forms, there’s something for everyone — and something nearly every weekend between now and June.

The Ojai World Dance Festival, “a community celebration of movement, artistry and culture,” will bring a day-long dance party to Libbey Park and Bowl on Saturday, May 9. Organized by Dance Ojai and featuring dozens of musicians and dancers from a wide variety of disciplines, it promises to be a colorful and exciting event filled with global spirit and togetherness.
The fun begins around 10 a.m. in Libbey Park for a morning and afternoon full of lively programming for all ages — completely free and open to the public.
“It allows us to host more artists and troupes,” Isha Ferraz told the Ventura County Reporter. The Dance Ojai founder and executive director added that the daytime activities have helped the festival grow, reaching a wider and younger audience. “Last year, a lot of people just brought all their kids, and the kids wanted to stay all day.
