Downtown Healdsburg is down one longtime dinner reservation after an SUV barreled through the front of Baci Café & Wine Bar and into the dining room, leaving the interior gutted and the facade badly damaged. The owners say the restaurant will be closed for weeks. No one was inside when the crash happened, and no injuries were reported.
Cops Say Coffee Spill Triggered The Crash
Healdsburg police told The Press Democrat that the driver spilled coffee, lost control of the SUV and plowed into the dining room at 336 Healdsburg Ave. Officers said alcohol did not appear to be a factor, and the driver was not arrested.
Owner Calls Damage ‘A Mess’ As Rebuild Timeline Stretches Weeks
Baci owner Lisbeth Holmefjord told The Press Democrat, “As you can see, it’s a mess. (Workers) have to completely rebuild the front,” adding that she is now working with insurance and construction officials to get repairs underway.
