What started as a group of teenagers just waiting for a ride on Peterson Lane turned into a gunpoint robbery case that now has three juveniles in custody and multiple guns off the street, according to Santa Rosa police.
The armed robbery occurred on May 1 near the 1700 block of Peterson Lane. Police say the victims were a small group of teens with no gang ties who were held up by suspects, one of whom revealed a gun in his waistband. The investigation, listed as Santa Rosa Police Department case #26-4643, later led detectives to multiple firearms believed to be connected to the case.
Detectives with the department’s Gang Crimes Team identified three juvenile suspects and yesterday served search warrants at two homes in Santa Rosa. Two of the teens were detained during a traffic stop in the 700 block of Bellevue Avenue, while a third juvenile was arrested as he left his residence in the 2700 block of Morgan Creek Street. During the searches, officers reported seizing an unregistered 9mm handgun and two privately manufactured firearms. They also said loaded guns were found unsecured in the bedroom of an uninvolved younger sibling.
