Paul Pelosi, the husband of Representative Nancy Pelosi, is facing a hit-and-run charge stemming from an incident in Yountville, California, according to a press release from the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. The office said the case has been referred to the Napa County District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said deputies responded to a report of a hit-and-run at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the 6700 block of Yount Street, where he is accused of hitting a parked car, briefly stopping, then driving away.

What happened

A witness called 911 and reported that a brown convertible traveled north on Yount Street and struck an unoccupied parked car, which sustained major rear damage, with its front right tire forced onto the curb. The witness gave deputies the direction the vehicle had traveled and the California Highway Patrol subsequently stopped Paul’s car at Yountville Cross Road, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies identified the driver as Paul according to the sheriff’s press release. Sheriff’s deputies located Paul about a quarter mile down the road with damage to the front of his car and he told officers he knew he had hit something but was unsure when or what, the Associated Press reported.
