Over 100 people gathered for a candlelight vigil to honor people who died or are missing from the Aug. 26 flash flood in Nepal, raising money for ongoing search and relief efforts in Santa Rosa on Tuesday.
Sonoma County community members gathered on the west side of Old Courthouse Square holding hand-written signs of support and Nepali flags. Attendees arranged candles to spell the words “Pray for Nepal” and to outline the country’s red, white and blue two-pointed flag.
As of Sept. 5, 2026,1,344 people are confirmed dead with over 5,000 still missing in Nepal, 21 people are reported dead and over 500 more are missing in Tibet, and over 13,000 people have been successfully rescued from the flood, according to India Today…
