A Sonoma County jury ordered former Windsor Mayor Dominic Foppoli to pay an additional $2 million to seven women in punitive damages, five days after delivering a decisive $13 million verdict finding him liable for sexually assaulting them in incidents spanning two decades.
The extraordinary award against a once promising Wine Country politician and wine industry entrepreneur — totalling more than $15 million — includes amounts to compensate the women for the economic and other losses they suffered due to Foppoli’s conduct and a separate award allowed in civil trials to punish and deter future behavior.

Foppoli has denied the assault allegations since the first four women came forward in 2021 to accuse him of wrongdoing in a Chronicle investigation. He has not been criminally charged.
But after a grueling two-month trial, during which seven women detailed assaults that ranged from rape and forced oral copulation to groping, jurors reached two unanimous verdicts against Foppoli, finding him liable of the assaults and of egregious conduct worthy of additional penalties…
