A man stranded on a rugged cliffside at a Sonoma County beach was rescued by helicopter on Sunday morning as waves threatened to wash him into the Pacific Ocean.
Crews from Cal Fire and other agencies said they responded to reports of the man struggling to stand on the slippery promontory at Rocky Point, just south of Sea Ranch, at 11:40 a.m. on Sunday. They flew the Henry One helicopter to find the victim about 100 yards offshore, officials from Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a social media post.
As the paramedics responded, they received a second report of two other people who may have been marooned on a nearby rock, the post said. Rescuers later found that those people were fishing and declined help.
