The Flamingo Resort turns back the clock for Resort-O-Rama, a four-day celebration of midcentury design, style and splendidly retro diversions. This weekend’s offerings range from seminars on Walt Disney, Bay Area architecture and 1950s cuisine to cocktails, DJs and a classic supper-club dinner featuring San Francisco lounge act Project: Pimento. Special guests include DEVO cofounder Gerald Casale discussing midcentury modernism’s influence on the band’s aesthetic and pop-culture raconteur Charles Phoenix with one of his signature retro slideshows. Add a caftan stroll, pooch parade, spirits and mocktail tasting room and Sunday’s free Mid-Century Modern Marketplace. The finale gets official when Santa Rosa marks “Historic Flamingo Resort and Spa Day”—proof that eventually everything retro becomes civic history.
