A typically quiet Friday evening in downtown Healdsburg was filled with brass instruments and chants on October 30 as Rodney Strong workers and other community members picketed outside restaurants around the town plaza.
About 100 demonstrators lined up outside four restaurants that serve wine produced in the Rodney Strong facility, asking diners to consider choosing other options as workers continue an effort to unionize at the Sonoma County winery.
North Bay Jobs with Justice, which is helping coordinate the campaign, is pushing for a card check neutrality agreement from Rodney Strong. Under such an agreement, the company would remain neutral during the organizing effort and recognize the union if enough workers sign authorization cards, instead of requiring a secret-ballot election…
