The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety (RPDPS) responded to a distressing 911 call from a passerby within a shopping center parking lot in the 900 block of Golf Course Drive in Rohnert Park on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at around 6:30 p.m.
The caller reported hearing a loud sound resembling a gunshot and discovered an adult male lying on the ground in the parking lot, police said.
RPDPS Police and Fire personnel swiftly arrived on the scene, responding within one minute of the initial dispatch. Upon arrival, they found an adult male with a single gunshot wound to his chest. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by RPDPS and Sonoma County Fire personnel, the victim was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.
At this time, the identity of the deceased individual is being withheld pending further investigation. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation by RPDPS.
