Herd of cattle wanders onto California’s Highway 101 overnight creating bovine traffic hazard

Early this morning, California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers donned their makeshift cowboy hats to respond to a unique situation on southbound US-101, just north of Lucas Valley Road, near Novato.

Reports came in about a group of wandering cattle on the freeway, prompting the CHP to spring into action.

In a scene reminiscent of the Wild West, the officers skillfully herded the adventurous bovines away from the freeway using their patrol vehicles.

This impromptu cattle drive, while unusual, proved successful, and no cattle or humans were harmed in the process.

While the sight of cattle on the freeway is rare, the incident serves as a reminder for motorists to remain vigilant behind the wheel. Stray animals, including these four-legged wanderers, can pose serious hazards, leading to traffic disruptions and potential crashes.
